Time is Flying..... Kitchen Friends Kitchen Friends Here we are ...mid April....it's so hard for me to believe how fast time is going. The painting at left was created from a still life set up at one of my on going oil painting classes. Classes are held every Tues. at the Courtyard Gallery & Studio in Bloomfield, IA This month we've been exploring limited color palettes recommended by several well known painters. Paintings that were in the show February at Indian Hills Community College are now on display and for sale at the River Art Center in Clinton, IA. This one person show will hang now through May 22nd. The gallery hours are Weds. through Saturday 1-4pm. The next one person show I'm gearing up for will be held at the Kirksville, MO Art Center for 6 weeks beginning in July. I will post details closer to that time. I've been keeping very busy with hosting 2 to 3 hour acrylic paint parties in a 70 mile radius of Pulaski (where I live). There are 3 scheduled for this month alone. This experience is truly touching the "entertainer" inside me. They've been a lot of fun and don't look to slow down any time soon. This month we're painting a barn landscape for 2 events and tulips as subject matter at Tassel Ridge Winery Thurs., April 28th. Sat., April 16th marks the 2016 business opening for all retail establishments in Bentonsport, IA (B & B's are open year around) I will have the "Parlor Room" Studio open to the public 10-4pm on most Saturdays from the 16th through the end of November. This is my working studio in Bentonsport and I share the space with fellow artists that want a change of scenery from their own studios. I'm also happy to announce that my studio will be host to the 1st Annual "Paint Van Buren Co." Plein air event this year. This event is sponsored by the VBC Arts Council and will always be held during Memorial Weekend. Each year the location will change for artists to congregate to paint this beautiful Southern Iowa County. The signing in and exhibit of artwork submitted by artists will always be held in Bentonsport. We're using the Herman Greef House this year as the "Gallery" location. Following years, the Stone House in Bentonsport will be the happening place for art lovers to come see and purchase the original 2D works created during the plein air event. For those of you not familiar with the term "Plein Air"....it's french for painting in the outdoors. It's a movement that has taken off like wild fire in the art community. 2016 marks the 6th year there has been a National Convention of Plein air painters. They are expecting close to 900 artists to come together and paint in the Tuscan, AZ area this month. I've been very fortunate to join a small group of painters and paint on location as much as possible here in Iowa. My husband created a nice mobile painting box and easel that we now have been selling to fellow artists. I'll be creating a site online soon to promote the Lammert Plein air box and easel set. They are designed to fit any standard camera tripod. I use mine indoors and outside....for demonstrations and lectures. It's WONDERFUL! Ok...back to work I go! Here's wishing you a GREAT SPRING!
