BIO
Specializing in the art of Portraiture, Gin Sorak Lammert has created numerous custom pieces for individual and corporate collectors since 1974.
The most unusual commission was that of a prize winning llama named Butterscotch. Experimenting with suede mat board as a background support for soft pastels, the effect made this magnificent animals eyes and coat so rich it was hard to believe it wouldn't move.
All of Gin's work, be it in Oil, Acrylic, Pastel, Pencil, or Ink has been described as "Treasures from the Heart" by those that have commissioned custom work or purchased her originals.
The artist's signature has changed three times in her art career, marking distinct growth periods of her work. There are a few rare pieces signed in her madden name of South, followed by a body of work that spans 25 years as Sorak, and now since 2001 as Lammert.
Since 1978 Gin has participated in and won numerous awards in juried fine art shows through out the Midwest United States. She has also held several one person exhibits in the state of Iowa and donates her artwork in fundraisers for charitable causes.
One aspect of Gin's work is utilized by designing and painting on glass for nationally acclaimed Hershey Stained Glass Studio of Milton, IA. Church windows, new and restoration of old, is the primary work this studio does. You may view their work at www.hersheystudio.com. The image seen on Hershey Studio's home page is that of an Angel reading to two birds. The design and painting was done by Gin with Kevin Hershey as the glass cutter and builder of this window. It's size is approx. 72"x36". Gin is also an expert at re-creating Munich Style windows. This style is best known as Stained Glass windows of the late 19th and 20th Century.
"I have been blessed with the ability to create what I see and feel in a visual manner, and only grow as an artist by sharing this gift with others. My hope is the use of this gift touches the viewer with God's abundant Grace that fills their heart and soul with joy and beauty."
